Testimonials from clients

“Carmen worked with Orleans House Gallery in Twickenham on an MLA-funded project in 2011 to audit period frames in the Richmond Borough Art Collection for the first time and to compile a conservation report. The gallery also had funding to conserve the frame of its star painting Mother and Child in a Garden by Pre-Raphaelite artist Arthur Hughes, acquired from Arthur and Helen Grogan in 2008 via the Art Fund. Over time, the frame, designed by Hughes as an integral part of the work, had become dirty, discoloured and damaged. Carmen sensitively and professionally conserved the frame, bringing it back to its former glory. She also gave a fascinating talk about her work to a group of staff and curatorial interns. Painting and frame were recently reunited and exhibited with a presentation by Carmen on the different stages of conservation undertaken. If we receive further funding, we would definitely hire Carmen again, and it’s appropriate that she learnt her art at the London School of Picture and Frame Restoration in Richmond .”

“Hi Carmen

My mother phoned me last night, she has asked me to pop around and remove the picture from the wall, she can’t stop looking at it and smiling, she is missing all her soaps on TV !!
Thanks again, your work has made her very happy."

"I am delighted with the result of your work. The portrait of Neil S. Beaton has been donated to the Scottish National Portrait Gallery who said it was in beautiful condition". Sandra Steel (grand-daughter of the sitter).

“I recently inherited an oil painting which was in a sorry state, it had nails through it, rips, cracked paint, etc. Carmen Libera Pearson restored the painting and it now hangs in pride of place in my lounge. This lady is good!”

'' I have asked Carmen to restore several oil paintings in recent years, particularly landscapes, most of which were in very poor condition and required either cleaning, and/or repairs. The transformation in them all, when she had finished was amazing, and gave me the inspiration to start to learn to restore oil paintings myself as a hobby. I was particularly impressed with her methodical approach and real love for the art of restoration. I would recommend her to anyone who wanted her to restore one of their paintings''

“I had a frail and damaged oil painting with two old patches and two new tears, the frame had extensive woodworm infestation found during the restoration procedure. I was very apprehensive concerning its restoration but I found Carmen both informative and caring throughout maintaining contact during the on-going stages of work. Carmen visually recorded each process of restoration and contacted me when she found the woodworm which was concealed behind paper backing, she treated this at no extra cost. I found this invaluable as it set my mind at ease as to what the end result was going to be. Her estimates for restorations are very reasonable and the quality of her work is exceptional, I am more than pleased with the end result and now enjoy a painting which has revealed images which were hidden behind years of dirt."

An oil painting that had fallen to a hard floor was quite severely damaged with cracks to the varnish that looked like crazy paving as well as a small chip of oil paint that came off with a piece of varnish. I found Carmen's web site following an Internet search for restorers in Hertfordshire and took the picture along to her for assessment. Carmen assured me that the picture could be restored and I have just collected the painting which now looks every bit as good as it did prior to the damage with excellent colour matching for the missing chip of paint and re-varnishing. I would highly recommend Carmen's skill and work to anyone looking for restoration of a picture.
